What is a tariff?

A tariff is a customs duty that may apply to goods crossing a border. The rate depends on how a product is classified and may also depend on its origin and the tariff arrangement selected. Taxes, permits and other requirements may apply separately.

Malaysia Customs’ EasyHS (JKDM HS Explorer) lets you search for product tariff rates. Use the official result for your specific goods and shipment rather than relying on a general estimate.

Information to prepare.

Product and classification

Have a clear product description, material, intended use and HS code if known. Small differences in a product can change its classification.

Origin and destination

Identify where the goods were made and where they will enter or leave Malaysia. Any preferential tariff treatment depends on the applicable rules and supporting documents.

Transport and shipment details

Know whether the goods will move by road or ocean, the route, shipment value and delivery terms. These details help your logistics and customs team assess documents, freight costs and the customs value; transport mode alone does not determine the tariff rate.

Documents and controls

Prepare the commercial invoice, packing list and transport documents. Some goods need permits or additional checks.

Check the current rate.

When you are ready to search, the button below takes you directly to the official Malaysia Customs EasyHS website. Select the relevant tariff type and search by product keyword or code. Confirm the result and any conditions for your shipment before making a commercial decision.
